Seaside, Monterey County — October 26, 2026. Seaside is preparing to rehabilitate the San Pablo Pedestrian Bridge linking Lincoln Cunningham Park and Manzanita Stuart Park. The pedestrian crossing has served the community since 1960 but was closed in 2023 after significant weathering, according to the city’s official announcement.

New funding included in the 2026–27 California state budget will support strengthening the bridge abutments and constructing accessible trail connections to Safe Routes to School routes. The work is intended to restore an important neighborhood link for children, families and other pedestrians.

Funding does not mean that the closed bridge is open today or that construction is finished. Residents should respect closure signs, and anyone requiring step-free access should verify current alternatives before walking between parks. Dates for full reconstruction and public reopening must come from later engineering updates.
