SEASIDE, Calif. — An exhibition by contemporary Indigenous mixed-media artist Becky Olvera Schultz is on display at Seaside’s Oldemeyer Center, 986 Hilby Avenue, through November 25, 2026.
The free exhibition is part of the city’s arts programming in recognition of National Native American Heritage Month. According to the Arts Council for Monterey County and the artist’s own announcement, visitors can view the display on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Art that brings together multiple materials
Schultz creates masks, wall art, clay and gourd pieces, photographs and other mixed-media works inspired by Indigenous cultures of the Americas. The exhibition includes works in display cases and on walls in the center’s lobby.
The artist’s statement describes art as a personal creative and restorative practice. The exhibit reflects her individual interpretation and experience, rather than serving as an official historical representation of every Native nation or culture.
